STARTUP

Biomara is early days with big ambitions to support an emerging seaweed industry

SEAWEED
FEEDSTOCK

BioMara will use Scottish native kelp ocean-farmed species for its biomass feedstock. This stimulates a local, sustainable feedstock supply refined into high-value and high-impact products. BioMara is against large-scale unsustainable mechanical harvesting of wild seaweed. Therefore, new product development supports the price-premium required by local suppliers.

Yes! Seaweed is slimy, but it is an extremely useful and dynamic biorefinery feedstock.

BLUE BIOECONOMY

BioMara is ulocking the UK blue bioeconomy that relies on renewable, living aquatic resources such as seaweeds to deliver products to the market.

The environmental opportunity that sustainable ocean-farmed kelp provides can be used as a lever to effect real change in the world.
