Founder & CEO
Jay is a Kiwi who loves the outdoors, so you'll often find him on a wave or up a mountain. Leveraging his many years of entrepreneurial and corporate experience, his ambition is to build BioMara to effect lasting positive change in the world.
Carlos possesses a furtive passion for craft beers and fighter jets. Bringing >20 years of applied research experience in food and pharma to BioMara, he leads the team for the production of valuable seaweed- based bioactive compounds for human wellbeing.

Loïc de Carvalho
Loïc loves exploring with his dog and paddle boarding local lochs and coastline. He is responsible for BioMara's biotechnology R&D, leveraging his phycology expertise, which includes metabolite characterisation of seaweeds and product development.
Inga is a seasoned traveller with a vision to carve new paths in the seaweed industry, especially in food and health innovation. Passionate about seaweed, she has extensive experience in the food industry, where she was instrumental in implementing product innovation, food safety and quality standards.
Matthew is a born and bred Dundee windsurfer. He is a BioMara sponsored PhD carrying out investigations during his cross-college University of Edinburgh scholarship, working in the chemical engineering and medicine departments.
